Discovered as a British species as recently as 1981, it has now been recorded in most of the southern and south-eastern counties of England (although to date there have been no confirmed records from Hampshire and Isle of Wight). To separate the species reliably from Oegoconia quadripuncta and O. deauratella, the genitalia need to be examined, as all three species are similar but variable in appearance. Wingspan 13-16 mm.
