Common in damp woodland, scrubland, gardens and hedgerows throughout the British Isles. In Hampshire fairly common in the south, with just a few recent records from the north-east of the county. On the Isle of Wight apparently restricted to the north-west coast. Wingspan 10-13 mm. The pale costal streak and other markings distinguish this species from all other Argyresthia. Larva mines bark of Sallow and Willow.
