There are two instances of this species being introduced into Britain, the first with a cargo of Australian barley and the second with wheat residues, rodent droppings and coconut fibre in a ship's hold (MBGBI Vol 2). Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Very similar to
T. columbariella, from which separable only by dissection of the genitalia. Larva feeds on dried goods, cereals and grain.
