Endangered (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) and originally described from New Zealand. First found in UK in a wine cellar in Gloucester in 1911 and later discovered in a bonded whisky warehouse in Edinburgh; on 11 July 1981 a specimen was taken in a light-trap at Falkirk, a locality not far from a whisky distillery; no other British specimens are known (MBGBI Vol 2). Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 8-11 mm. Larva feeds on cellar fungus, living within a silken gallery.
