Rare (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) in woodland in south-eastern England, from Kent to Huntingdonshire. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 11-14 mm. Similar to Bacotia claustrella but with forewing narrower and apex more rounded. Larva feeds on various lichens and decaying vegetable matter, living within a movable case; case length 8-10 mm.
