Vulnerable (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) on limestone downland and sand-dunes, in southern Wales and on the Burren and Inner Hebrides. Unlikely to be recorded in Hampshire and Isle of Wight. Wingspan 3-4 mm. Adults difficult to distinguish from other Stigmella species, and more frequently recorded in the larval stage, when mines are relatively easy to find where they are present. Larva mines leaves of Burnet Rose, over-wintering as a pupa.
